I'm an outdoorsy nature girl at heart. In the summer months, I love running around barefoot on my farm and I can often be found splashing around in the water with my husband and our dogs at our favorite state parks. When it comes to photography, I often encourage my clients to consider a waterfront or beach location for their session. I'm drawn to the water for many reasons; it's calming, it's beautiful and it's interactive (just scroll through these photos to take a peek at what I mean!).
Below, I've included a short list of some of my favorite water oriented photography locations throughout Wisconsin:
Seven Bridges Trail at Grant Park - An amazing location for photography. Set on the shores of Lake Michigan, this park is charming for engagement photos and offers an array of different backdrops to explore. Well appointed bridges, lots of greenery, dreamy gullys and a breakwater jutting out into Lake Michigan all provide endless creativity for amazing photographs.
Nagawaukee Park - This picturesque park has it all. A beach, beautiful mature forest, lots of textures, footbridges and docks.
South Shore Park - This park is in a pretty fantastic location right on the shores of Lake Michigan in Bay View. I love suggesting this location to my beer loving clientele. Swing over to the South Shore Terrace for a beer and then let's go for a stroll along the paved trail. With lots of secret beach stop offs, this one is high on my list for romantic engagement sessions. On the way back, ensure you pause to take in the view of the Milwaukee skyline in the distance.
Cushing Park - Cushing Park in Delafield is a great location for photo sessions. It is situated along the Bark River in and isn't far from Delafield's downtown area. The Fish Hatchery offers up a nice architectural option for photography, as well.
Richfield Historic Park - Located in Richfield, Wisconsin, this park is a quick hop off of Hwy 41. Lush trees, a beautiful winding creek and open fields make this park a fantastic location with a multitude of backdrops for engagement photography sessions and weddings.
Glacier Hills County Park - Nestled among the great Kettle Moraine Forest, this park boasts amazing lines of mature pine trees, a lovely pond and trails leading to an overlook of Friess Lake.
Lakeshore State Park - A nice mix of cityscape and nature, Lakestore State Park is a really cool spot to see the Milwaukee skyline amongst a patch of black eyed susans or purple coneflowers. It is a unique juxtaposition for the couple interested in both the city life and the natural world.
Kohler Andrae State Park - Did someone say sand dunes? This dreamy location is a bit of hike from Milwaukee but so worth it for the atmosphere. Forest + beach + sand dunes = pure love.
